Comparisons

It was hard to remember what it write without the book next to me. I would have been easier with the book next to me. Next I will make comparisons between non-fiction books.

It was tricky to think of the answer but I knew that 2 groups of 9 made 18. I forgot to say the answer but I know that the answer is 9. They get 9 each.

Instructional writing

We are learning to do instructional writing. We made spinach dip with some spinach from our garden.

I found it easy to write clear instructions. I really liked writing the recipe.

Capital letters and full stops

I am working on typing my capital letters and full stops and making sure they are they same as in my book.  It was easy to put the capital letters and full stops in the right place. I forgot that Miss Ladley needed a capital M. I liked using ellipsis.

We are learning to get capital letters in the right place all the time. I find the capital letters easy to get in the right place, but not the full stops as much. My next step is to use other types of punctuation like a maybe a colon.

Making my plan match my story

I am learning to match my plan to my story. I find it useful to number the plan so I can make sure I have got everything. I am making sure that I include lots of detail like who, what, where, how and when.

I am learning about shapes. I am happy with my 2D shapes but I need to learn more about 3D shapes and how I describe them.

We are learning about characters. I can find words that describe my characters. I used words like ship, robbers, cross bones, booty. I will next be learning to talk about how characters think and feel. 

Writing more than one idea

I am learning to write more than one idea. I like lightning writing. I write as much as I can in 10 minutes. I used a picture to give me ideas. I find it easy to write more than one idea. My ideas match the picture.

I am learning to make compound sentences. I can use and to make my sentences longer and join 2 sentences. Next I will use but or because.

I am learning learning about fractions. I can find half of a shape. I find it easy. It is hard to find 1/4. I need to practise.
